Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of CapGen (“CapGen”, “we”, “us”), including the website, editor, and captioning/translation services. By creating an account, uploading content, or otherwise using CapGen, you agree to these Terms.

1. The service

CapGen automatically transcribes and captions video you upload, lets you edit the result in a browser-based editor, and — as a paid add-on — translates captions into other languages. The free tier is genuinely free: no watermark, no signup wall to try the core captioning flow.

2. Your account

You may use CapGen anonymously for a limited trial, or sign in with Google to save projects. You're responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity that happens under it. You must be at least 13 years old to use CapGen.

3. Your content

You retain all ownership rights to the video, audio, and text you upload (“Your Content”). By uploading, you grant CapGen a limited license to store, process, and transmit Your Content solely to provide the service to you — transcription, rendering, translation, and delivery of your output. We do not sell Your Content, and we do not use it to train third-party models.

You're responsible for ensuring you have the rights to upload and caption the content you submit, and that it doesn't violate any law or third party's rights.

4. Storage & retention

Uploaded source video is retained for a limited period to let you re-render or continue editing, then automatically expires; caption text and edit history are retained as part of your project. Current retention windows are shown in the product and may vary by plan.

5. Acceptable use

• No uploading content you don't have the right to caption or process.
• No using CapGen to generate unlawful, infringing, or abusive content.
• No attempting to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or abuse the service's infrastructure or rate limits.

6. Paid features

Translation and other paid features are billed as described at checkout when they launch. Prices, currencies, and refund terms will be shown before you pay for anything — nothing on the free tier ever requires payment information.

7. Termination

You may stop using CapGen and delete your projects at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or abuse the service.

8. Disclaimers & liability

CapGen is provided “as is.” Automatic transcription and translation can contain errors — review captions before publishing anything important. To the extent permitted by law, CapGen is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above; continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
