Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what data CapGen collects, why, and how it's used. It applies whether you're trying CapGen anonymously or signed in with an account.
1. What we collect
- Account data: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google Identity Services. We never see or store your Google password.
- Your content: the video/audio you upload, the resulting transcript, captions, and any edits you make.
- Usage & analytics: product events (e.g. page views, uploads, signups) tied to an anonymous device identifier and, once you sign in, your account — plus standard acquisition data like referrer and UTM parameters.
- Cookies: a session cookie to keep you signed in (or to track an anonymous trial project), and an anonymous analytics identifier. No third-party advertising cookies.
2. How we use it
- To provide the service: transcribe, caption, render, and deliver your video.
- To keep your account and projects working across sessions.
- To understand product usage in aggregate and improve CapGen.
- To send transactional email (e.g. “your captions are ready”) — never marketing email without your consent.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your uploaded video or audio to train third-party AI models.
3. Who we share it with
CapGen runs on a small set of infrastructure providers who process data on our behalf, under their own security commitments:
- Google — sign-in identity verification only.
- Amazon Web Services (S3, SES) — storing uploaded/rendered video and sending transactional email.
We don't share your content or personal data with anyone else.
4. Data retention
Uploaded source video is retained for a limited period (shown in the product) to allow re-rendering, then automatically deleted. Account data and project history are retained until you delete your account or request removal.
5. Your rights
You can delete individual projects at any time from your dashboard. To request a full export or deletion of your account and associated data, email us — we'll act on it promptly.
6. Children
CapGen is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
7. Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
